Today’s Success Story Is From Abby Tyler who just completed our 6 week MELTDOWN weight management program…
Whilst the weight loss Abby achieved is moderate (though still great!), the inches and that fat loss is immense! (just check out the disappearance of fat from beneath those bra straps!)
Check out her amazing story!
“I am a 34 year old who wants to live a healthy lifestyle, eat nutritious food and have a good level of fitness. My weight seems to have been an issue most of my life. My dad left when I was 9 and I do remember as a kid that food was a comfort to me.
When I have looked back at photos and think about my eating habits it is obvious that this was the trigger of my weight going up. I can remember being weighed at primary school and being mortified that I was the same weight or more than some of the boys and at the age of 9 I weighed 9 stone. The battle continued through my teenage years trying drastic crash diets, slimming pills, intense exercise, starving myself but they were all quick fixes and never sustainable.
I had made lots of attempts to loose weight but nothing worked long term! In the summer of 2006 I was a size 20 and weighed over 15 stone (210lbs), my confidence was at rock bottom.
I saw a sandwich board on the pavement in Islington High St advertising a weight loss program. I signed up there and then, as I was desperate to lose weight. I began with Dax Moy on the ED gave up drinking and was eating really healthily and managed to get down to a size 14.
With no real support and the WHY DO I WANT TO LOOSE WEIGHT not being big enough old habits started to creep back. I kept the weight off for a while but once again it started to go up. I had gone up to a size 16 and put on a stone, so I joined a slimming club and lost the stone, confidence back up, stone back on and then some.
December 2008 I was at a real low, my birthday was here and when I had to get ready to go out. Nothing fit, I was so bloated and felt so uncomfortable in everything that I wore, I text all my friends and cancelled I couldn’t go out! My brother suggested going out for dinner to a local restaurant that I loved and we got a table for 10.30pm it had taken me that long to get ready! I was back in that situation again, one which I had put to the back of my head and to be honest had forgotten about. I never thought I would be here again; I had had everything under control!
January came and I knew the only solution was the ED. So I went onto Dax’s website and started to re-educate myself about food and where I had been going wrong. After signing up for emails from Dax I received one saying that they needed guinea pigs for a new weight loss programme, I phoned immediately to volunteer and thankfully got selected. This was it, never again was I going to be unhappy about my weight and I knew Dax could help me.
The MELTDOWN Weight Management Course was the answer I was looking for, after being on a calorie controlled diet for 40 odd weeks I had successfully lost 33lbs but I wasn’t happy, I was tired, bloated, headaches and my IBS playing up. I wasn’t happy with how I was eating and my body had turned to jelly I had seemed to loose all my muscle definition. I wanted to eat healthy nutritious food but a lot of these foods were banned as there were too calorific so instead of me having an avocado I would opt for a low calorie bag of crisps or a small chocolate bar with no nutritional value! I didn’t know how I was going to lead the lifestyle I wanted and be the weight and size that I wanted on the diet I was following.
Being on the Weight Management Course for the last 6 weeks has made me realise that this is sustainable I can follow this every day and the benefits are addictive. My skin looks 10 years younger I have so much more energy the food is delicious and it feel so great to know that everything you are eating is good for you. My confidence has improved tenfold, I just feel great and with my wedding coming up in 3 months I can’t wait to put on my dress and feel fantastic.
After 6 weeks I have dropped a dress size with my measurements dropping 18″ over my body. The most dramatic being my waist, which has gone from 39″ to 34″. In the 40 weeks on my previous diet my waist dropped 4″ I just can’t believe in 6!!! weeks it had done more …A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!
My overall experience of the course sessions has been fantastic, I have learnt so much especially about hidden salt in food which I just wasn’t aware of, eating nutritiously, how vitamins and minerals can help to aid your fat loss, using correct posture and what a positive effect that can have and the power of exercise and diet combined and its amazing results.
The exercise sessions are tough I can’t deny that and it takes dedication to fit them into your lifestyle but when you see the results it is soo worth it. I now have a pert bottom; strong defined arms with only a hint of bingo wing left and a waist I never thought could be mine. I still have a little way to go but I am so confident that I can do it now following what I have learnt on the programme. The support from the group was fantastic and the online community has been really beneficial especially on tough days.
The Elimination diet has completely changed how I think about food, diet and healthy living. I have spent the last 20 odd years on calorie controlled diets doing hour long aerobics sessions and subsequently yo-yo dieting, with my weight fluctuating between 133lbs and 224lbs. My main aim in all of the diets was to feel in control over food and my eating habits, I have for periods but it has never been sustainable. I now have the answer and it fell great! I feel kinda smug knowing that my diet is so healthy and that I have so much confidence in my body now but I do want to tell the world because it has without sounding cheesy changed my life.
Thank you Dax, Jules and Megan it has been great.
Xxx Abby
This has been long overdue.
We get so many amazing stories from the clients at our studios, participants on our courses and those who are going through our online programs that we often take the results they tell us about for granted.
I guess we’re so used to seeing and hearing about the amazing changes that our clients get that we forget that other members of the community might need a little glimpse of what’s possible for them, a little ‘taster’ of what they could achieve if they followed our programs through to their logical conclusions.
Our bad! : )
But I’m going to set that right from this point forward.
From now on I’ll be posting regular success stories and ‘real life’ comments from the people who’ve achieved them so that you can both give them the cheers they deserve (we all like to be recognised for our accomplishments and hard work, right?) and so that you get a bit of a boost, a butt-kicking or whatever you need in order to achieve the same.
Let’s get started!
This week we’ll meet Ammar Hussein who’s just completed the 6 week Meltdown Weight Management Course At My London personal Training Studio
“The course has taken some individual bits of what I’ve learned previously but linked it all together
alongside a lot of information about factors that affect my health that I never
knew about or fully understood.
The course has reminded me that I’m the only one who has the power to keep myself fit and healthy and that there is no shame to be where I am now as long as I am constantly trying to improve
myself.
It’s given me more confidence to speak about such things to friends and family and work colleagues. I think this course has permanently changed my lifestyle from the abuse I was doing to my
body in the past compared to the food I’m eating now, and exercise that I’m
doing.
The course has given me direction and determination to keep on working to get myself better.
The lectures in the course gave a lot of information about the importance of many factors beyond just food and exercise but aspects such as hormonal balance, hydration, body posture,
breathing correctly and the importance of functioning glands.
The exercises both in the gym and at home were easy to fit into my schedule and they were varied but still quite difficult (I always feel an achievement after completing a session). Some of
the stretching made an incredible difference to my feeling of flexibility and
mobility, twisting, turning, bending over, etc.
Having the support of the other team members was amazing – for the first time ever I felt able to speak openly about my health issues that were really private to me with others who were in
the same situation as me and who understood that. We were there to support each
other and not be judgmental.
The direction of Jules leading the course and the support of Megan was vital in keeping the course moving along but they always had time and patience to answer all our questions and make
everyone feel welcome and a part of the team.
During exercises they were always keeping an eye out on the team members and I felt they were always approachable or any questions or issues. Without that expert support available the course
would have been very different.”
